Welcome to LCN 2017 in Singapore
The 42nd meeting of the LCN Conference will be in Singapore. This is the first meeting of LCN in Asia.
The Republic of Singapore, often called the Lion City or the Little Red Dot, is a sovereign city-state in Southeast Asia and the world's only island city-state. Singapore's territory consists of a diamond-shaped main island along with 62 other islets.
Founded in 1819 as a trading post for the East India Company, the islands of Singapore were ceded to Great Britain in the 1820s. Singapore was occupied by Japan during World War II and gained independence from the United Kingdom in 1963, originally as part of Malaysia. Singapore has evolved to become a global commerce, finance and transportion hub, having been designated as the most technology-ready nation, third-largest financial center, third-largest oil refining and trading center and second busiest container port. Singapore's primary spoken languages are English, Malay, Mandarin, and Tamil.

When traveling to Singapore, Feburary is the hottest month with an average temperature of 81° F and the coldest is January at 79° F. The peak time to travel to Singapore is from March until May.
Currency
Singapore's official currency is the Singapore Dollar (SGD). The exchange rate with US dollar (USD) is 1 SGD = 0.70 USD or 1 USD = 1.43 SGD (as of 10 December 2016).
Cell Phones in Singapore
Singapore is one of the most connected cities in the world and is a major electronic communications hub for the Asia region. Mobile phone penetration is very high and service coverage excellent. The three big players in the market are SingTel, StarHub, and MobileOne. All three operate the GSM system and so are compatible with phones and SIM cards from most other countries.
