Keynote Speech Abstract:Open Problems in Mobile Ad Hoc Networking
Nitin Vaidya
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
http://www.crhc.uiuc.edu/~nhv/Last few years have seen feverish research activity in the area of mobile ad hoc networking, and the related area of sensor networking. Bulk of this research has been limited to a relatively small number of topics. This presentation will attempt to provide a brief overview of past activity, and will discuss other important issues that deserve increased attention from the research community.

Invited Talk Traffic Management in Wireless Networks
Speaker: Sonia Fahmy, Department of Computer Sciences, Purdue UniversityAbstract: In this talk, I will survey a number of recently proposed wireless technologies and protocols, with special emphasis on the upper layers of the protocol stack. I will examine the impact of wireless link characteristics (low bandwidth, high error rate, asymmetry, and possibly high latency), limited device power, and mobility on the design of the network, transport and application layer protocols, and compare a number of current solutions. Finally, I will briefly discuss additional problems that arise in ad hoc and sensor networks, such as self-organization and data fusion.
