Arrival Information
Key information on the Public Transport system in Zürich, tickets, and respective vending machines:
Travel from Zürich Unique Airport (ZRH) to Zürich Oerlikon (Travel Information), downtown Zürich, or any other location in Zone 10 can be done with a single ticket of Zones 10 and 21, which can be bought at many blue vending machines by typing "8000" into the keypad. This single ticket will cost 6.20 CHF (Swiss Francs). Note that some vending machines at the Zürich Airport only will take 20,- CHF bills. If you would like to return to the Airport within 24 hours of buying the ticket, a 24 hours ticket is the optimal solution: Just type "8000" into the keypad and tick the button below the LCD price display showing two arrows in opposite directions (ticket costs are 12.40 CHF).
If you do not travel with Swiss currency (CHF - Swiss Francs - cash) use either one of the touchscreen ticket vending machines (grey and red) or walk up to the counter of the SBB (Swiss Railroad) travel center and ticket counters. In either case (machine or human), credit cards and the English language are well supported!
Note: For the duration of LCN 2009 (October 20-23, 2009) you will receive a free 4-day travel ticket for Zone 10 upon check-in at the LCN reception desk in the Swissôtel during registration hours.
Travel Information
There are different ways to travel from Zürich Unique Airport (ZRH) to the Swissôtel in Zürich Oerlikon:

By taxi -- costing approximately 50-60,- CHF for a single trip, and taking 25-40 min depending on the travel time of the day (rush hour app. 7.00-9.30 hours and 15.30-19.00 hours)

By train or tram -- costing 6.20 CHF for a single trip (Zones 10 and 21), and taking 9-10 min (train) or 17-20 min (tram) independent of the travel time of the day
Travel by Train from the Zürich Unique Airport (ZRH) to Zürich Oerlikon
Zürich Oerlikon is the closest train station from the Swissôtel and can be reached by S-Bahn, Intercity Train, or Regional Train in approximately within 6-7 minutes from Zürich Airport. Any connection you require by train to Zürich Oerlikon from the Zürich Airport shall state a "From Station/Stop: Zurich Airport" and "To Station/Stop: Zurich Oerlikon" in the on-line time table form available at http://www.zvv.ch/en/.
Once you reach the Zürich Oerlikon train station, proceed on foot for 3 minutes as follows: Follow the front exit of the station (toward track 1), cross the street called "Hofwiesenstrasse" to the Southern direction, and you are just in front of the Swissôtel, which you can enter from the right side, coming from the station.
Travel by Tram from the Zürich Unique Airport (ZRH) to Zürich Oerlikon
Additionally, there is a fast direct connection by Tram No. 10 every 15 minutes (every 7-8 minutes during peak times: 6.00-9.00 and 16.00-19.00 hours) from Zürich Airport to Zürich Oerlikon Ost, which is located just about 100 m away from the Swissôtel. Thus, a highly comfortable access from the airport in approximately 14 minutes is guaranteed. Get off at Station/Stop: Oerlikon Ost, enter Oerlikon Station from the rear, walk in 3 minutes to the front exit, and follow the description as above.
The on-line time table can be accessed at http://www.zvv.ch/en/ and any connection you require from Zürich Airport by tramway to Zürich Oerlikon Ost shall state in the request form a "From Station/Stop: Zurich Airport" and a "To Station/Stop: Oerlikon Ost".
